Michael Moore's "Sicko"

Image
I've always been a fan of Michael Moore's film as most of his films show how reality is like in America. His recent film (or documentary if you would like to call it...) Sicko basically shows you how the health care system in America works. Although i do think highly about America, the lavish lifestyle there, the culture, the people and many other things, it never quite occur to me how exactly the health system there work cause that's like one of the last thing you'll ever think of. For example, if you plan to migrate to another country, you'll think of how cool life is going to be there, the weather, the people, the lifestyle, the currency, the shopping malls, the hot guys / girls, and the list goes on and on... but not the hospital. Being brought up in Brunei, falling sick isn't quite a big issue especially if you're a local. You fall sick, if you have spare cash, you see a private clinic doctor otherwise, you'll go and queue in the local hospital,

I seriously hate cancer...

I feel it's only fair to let you guys know what's been going on with me and my family. But before i do that, i just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart if you have taken a few minutes time out just to keep my brother or family in prayers and also i'm extremely sorry for not replying messages or if you couldn't get through to me for the past few days. My phone got barred by DST 'cause i sort of max-ed out on the roaming services. I didn't expect roaming services to be that expensive. I just got back from Singapore yesterday...no not from holidays. It's never a holiday for my family in Singapore. We're only there whenever there's some health crisis going on. What was i doing there? My brother's diagnosed with cancer. Much to our knowledge, this started off with an injury around last year. He injured one of his testicle while playing basketball and it sort of swelled up. My mom brought him over to Singapore last year to get it checked

Why

Listening to this song never fails to put tears in my eyes as it reminds me how much God loves each and everyone of us. We rode into town the other day Just me and my Daddy He said I'd finally reached that age And I could ride next to him on a horse That of course was not quite as wide We heard a crowd of people shouting And so we stopped to find out why And there was that man That my dad said he loved But today there was fear in his eyes So I said "Daddy, why are they screaming? Why are the faces of some of them beaming? Why is He dressed in that bright purple robe? I'll bet that crown hurts Him more than He shows Daddy, please can't you do something? He looks as though He's gonna cry You said he was stronger than all of those guys Daddy, please tell me why Why does everyone want him to die?" Later that day the sky grew cloudy And Daddy said I should go inside Somehow he knew things would get stormy Boy was he right But I could not keep from wondering If ther

Prayer request

It's like déjà vu all over again. *sigh* Please pray for my brother. God, i really need you right now.

Balls of fury...

When i was in the Philippines last month, i sort of pulled my back muscle / tissue or something while making an attempt to carry a 50kg sack of rice. The feeling was excruciating the moment it happened. It felt like a jolt of electricity up and down my back and i honestly thought i broke something then. After the whole mission trip, i didn't bother going to the doctor as it was the end of the year and everyone was pretty much in a holiday mood. I decided to just let it 'heal' on it's own slowly by applying the oh-so-useful Yoko Yoko everynight. Just when i thought it was getting better, i recklessly carried another heavy box of cards while moving out of ICC after the exhibition. Again, the same thing happened. My initial plan was to see a doctor but my mom insisted on visiting this dude named Jag Therapy . It was a pretty weird visitation for me since i was expecting some instant healing after being carefully folded around and rubbed on with some funny smelling oil bu

Why ah..?

Why is it that when some people say certain things, it's okay but when you say that certain things, it's not okay? Or why is it that that when some people throw a tantrum, people around shrug it off and say let him/her be but when you throw a bit of that tantrum, you'll end up getting judge? Why some people get the right to give constructive criticism and in response, they say he / she's helping out but when you tend to give a bit of constructive criticsm too, people say you're trying to be smart? Or why when some people do something they're not suppose to, other people just 'close one eye' and pretend that they didn't know anything but when you do the same, you're being labelled? Why when some people say he / she will wait for you, you'll end up believing him / her only to find out in the end you've been deceived but when it's someone else who's been there for you all these while, you step back and think twice? Or why some peopl

Recap and resolutions

The other night, I managed to snatch a few cds from Mr. DJ (the dude seriously got a lot of great collection of cds which also need some spring cleaning to do!) and one of the cds that i borrowed was Classic Disney Volume 1: 60 Years of Musical Magic with all the classic Disney cartoon songs. Listening to Aladdin and The Lion King songs just brought back so much memories of my days growing up and also reminded me of someone who shared that much love for The Lion King with me back then. Yes Drey, i miss you! Hakuna Matata to you? :) Ah...it's only the start of 2008 and i feel like i'm already in the middle of the year. So much work to be done, so much activities to look out for. I've been rather busy since the start of the month so do excuse my inconsistent updates. Just a quick overdue recap of how 2007 was for me. This was how my 2007 looked like... What could possibly go wrong did go wrong last year. There's so many things i've regretted doing, words that i&#

Found this rather cute video. Something only ang-mo babies would do. Bad Charlie! Hahaha... In Him

Happy New Year 2008!

And just like that, it's already 2008. I was suppose to type up my New Year's resolution before 2007 ends but what the heck, i'll probably figure out what i want to achieve this year a little bit later. Hope everyone had a fantastic celebration of the New Year. My 2008 celebration was a quiet one. Just a mini barbeque with my mom and my uncle's family. I was suppose to attend the New Year's Eve service at church but in the end, i thought it'd be more meaningful to spend it with my family instead. Plus, with all the preparation for the exhibition that's happening on the 2nd , i got so exhausted from all the packing and moving of stuffs. And just so you know, while most of you would be sleeping in tomorrow, i'll be moving shelves and boxes of stocks to I.C.C in the morning! *grr* Anyway, i figured to kick things off for 2008, i'd try something different. Of all the things that crossed my mind, i ended up doing this one. Hans Anwar CD "The Love
